Akshaya Tritiya

Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar, believed to bring eternal prosperity and success. The word ‘Akshaya’ means ‘never diminishing’ or ‘eternal’, and ‘Tritiya’ refers to the third day of the bright half of the lunar month of Vaishakha.

This sacred day is believed to be so powerful that any auspicious activity started on this day will grow and bring continued success. It is considered an exceptionally favorable day for new beginnings, investments, and starting new ventures.

At our temple, Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated with special pujas to Goddess Baglamukhi, seeking her blessings for prosperity, success, and removal of obstacles. The day begins with a special abhishekam (ritual bathing) of the deity with panchamrit and various sacred substances.

The main puja is performed with elaborate rituals, including the recitation of specific mantras, offering of yellow flowers, turmeric, and special bhog (food offerings). Devotees participate in the havan (fire ceremony) which is believed to amplify the positive energies and blessings.

A unique aspect of our Akshaya Tritiya celebration is the Annadanam (food distribution) service, where free meals are served to all visitors and the needy. This charitable act is believed to bring immense blessings and contribute to the ‘never diminishing’ nature of prosperity in one’s life.

Many devotees also choose this day to start their spiritual practices, especially those related to Goddess Baglamukhi, as sadhanas begun on Akshaya Tritiya are believed to yield exceptional results.
