Ujjain is one of the seven sacred cities (Sapta Puri) in Hinduism and is located on the eastern bank of the Kshipra River in Madhya Pradesh.

The temple is situated near Mangalnath Temple, which is approximately 2.5 km from the city center.

By Train

Ujjain Junction Railway Station is well-connected to major cities. From the station, the temple is approximately 5 km away and can be reached by auto-rickshaw or taxi.

By Bus

Ujjain has a well-developed bus network with regular services from Indore, Bhopal, and other nearby cities. The central bus stand is about 4 km from the temple.

By Air

The nearest airport is Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore, approximately 55 km from Ujjain. Taxis and buses are available from the airport to Ujjain.

 

By Road

Ujjain is well-connected by road to major cities. NH-52 connects Ujjain to Indore, and state highways connect it to other parts of Madhya Pradesh.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Ujjain is from October to March when the weather is pleasant. Summers (April to June) can be extremely hot, while monsoon (July to September) brings moderate rainfall.

Photography is restricted inside the main sanctum but allowed in other areas of the temple complex. Please check with the temple authorities for specific guidelines.

Dress Code

Modest clothing is recommended for temple visits. Men can wear dhoti, kurta, or pants with shirts. Women should preferably wear sarees, salwar kameez, or other traditional Indian attire.

Local Transportation

Auto-rickshaws, taxis, and cycle rickshaws are readily available for getting around Ujjain. Many pilgrimage spots are within walking distance of each other in the central area.
